Hanging in "The Bern"

We continue to relax and spend time in New Bern, NC.  After Mum Fest we were hoping to go to Cape Lookout with friends for a few days, but so far the weather is not cooperating.  So we have had some "get together's" with friends around town as well as just chilling on the boat.

Mum Arch

I have been working on some quilts, most of which I hope to get to Ocracoke for their Firefighter's Ball next May.  They could certainly use the funds to help rebuild after the hurricane this fall that devastated the island.  The binding needs to be hand finished and pins taken out, but that will be done in the Bahamas this winter.  I wanted to get the tops done and quilted before getting down to the islands.

Here are a few of what I've been working on.

Totally unrelated to quilts, we were entertained one afternoon by the local stunt pilot.  He was practicing over the river right in front of the marina.

Yes, he is upside down

We are expecting friends from Ocracoke for lunch this week.  They are coming over on the ferry to do some errands and visit.  Cannot wait to see them.  The weather for the next two days is to be good so we got the dinghy down.  There could be some fishing and dinghy rides coming up.  Also a quilt show is at the New Bern Convention Center this weekend as well as a big Ghost Walk event in town.  Stay tuned to see what transpires.
