Saugerties Lighthouse
We had an easy trip to Catskill, NY and arrived about 1:00 PM. The town is small and the marina we stayed at was also small with just one long pier. It did the trick however and we even got to see a beaver in the evening swimming along the edge of the creek. He decided to be a bit sneeky and came closest when I went back inside for a shower but Captain Keith got a close look at him.
Southern Style along the dock in Catskill
We biked around town a bit and you would not guess the quirky thing this town has. They have painted cat figures all over town. Catskills, NY get it "CATs"kill. Here are some examples.
Witch Cat
Blue Jeans Cat
White Cat
Colorful Cat
Blue Cat
Tuxedo Cat
There were dozens more but Keith made me stop taking pictures.
We left Catskill about 7:30 AM on Friday June 8th and headed for Waterford, NY. Along the way we passed several more lighthouses.
We traveled past Albany, NY
We also went through the Federal Lock in Troy, NY
This is the second lock we have transited.

We pulled into Waterford, NY about noon and got tied up and checked in. This is right at the beginning of the Erie Canal.

Mules used to be used to pull the boats through the Erie Canal. More about that later.
We will be having Ron and Robin Terry arriving from Raleigh,NC on Saturday and Lacey and Davis Toney arriving from Charleston,SC. They will all travel with us through the first several locks to Schenectady, NY before they have to return home. It should be a great couple of days. I should get lots of pictures as we will have extra help with the lines while going through the locks.

The kids are really excited that you made it to the Erie Canal. They are now walking around the house singing the song really, really loud (LOL)
