Boothbay Harbor, Maine

We returned to Boothbay Harbor for two days on our way back down along the Maine coast.  This is a really great town.  "Touristy", but still a lot to do and a pretty harbor.  One thing we did not get the chance to see the first time here was the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens that are here in Boothbay.  So Keith and I got a taxi and spent a morning at the botanical gardens.

Flowers are all over Maine.  Everyone has beautiful flower boxes in their windows and towns have potted flowers all throughout the downtown area.  The weather here in the summer is perfect for flowers.  So I was interested to see the botanical gardens.  I must say they were stunning!  Once again Keith was a dear and carried much of may camera gear all morning.  I took a bunch of creative type shots and hope you enjoy them.

The arch across the top is all rosemary.  It smelled wonderful.

I was having such a good time taking pictures, I even took a few black and white of the dock when we got back from the gardens

Once back from the gardens, we were famished.  We were looking forward to a traditional Maine Lobster dinner.  We headed over to Boothbay Lobster Whaft and got a couple of lobsters and couple of pounds of steamers.  It was a beautiful night and we were both a still a bit hungry so Keith order a couple of "Jumbo" lobster rolls.  Holly Crap!  These things were huge!  We should have started with these.  We wouldn't have needed anything else.

These were our jumbo lobster rolls for dinner one night in Boothbay

This was sunset from our cockpit that night.

So sad to be moving out of Maine soon.  We only have a few more stops before getting back into the Massachusetts, RI, CT area.  Makes us feel like the summer is drawing to an end much too soon.
